भूगोल एक प्राचीन विषय है।भूगोल का उदय का इतिहास मनुष्य के चिन्तन से जुड़ा है।मानव ने जब से अपने परिवेश को समझा तभी से भूगोल अस्तित्व में आया। परन्तु इसे सामाजिक विज्ञान के रूप में स्थापित करने का योगदान यूनानियों को जाता है। ईसा से 500 वर्ष पहले यूनानियों ने भूमध्य सागर के अधिकांश क्षेत्र का भौगोलिक अध्ययन कर लिया था। फिर भो भूगोल को एक विज्ञान के रूप को धारण नहीं किया था। यूनानी विद्वान इराटॉस्थनीज ने पहले ज्योग्राफी शब्द का उपयोग किया, इन्हें ही भूगोल का जनक कहा गया।
Geography is an ancient subject. The history of the rise of geography is related to the thinking of man. Geography came into existence ever since man understood his environment. But the contribution of establishing it as a social science goes to the Greeks. 500 years before Christ, the Greeks had done a geographical study of most of the Mediterranean Sea. Yet geography did not assume the form of a science. The Greek scholar Eratosthenes first used the word geography, he was called the father of geography.
भूगोल का अर्थ:- 'भूगोल' शब्द हिंदी शब्द 'भू" गोल से मिलकर बना है, जिसका अर्थ क्रमशः पृथ्वी तथा गोल होता है। इस प्रकार भोगोल का शाब्दिक अर्थ गोल पृथ्वी है। इससे पृथ्वी के गोलाकार स्वरूप का बोध होता है। भूगोल का अंग्रेजी पर्यायवाची शब्द ज्योग्राफी (Geography) है। इस शब्द की व्युत्पत्ति यूनानी भाषा के "जी" (ge-पृथ्वी) तथा ग्राफो (grapfo=वर्णन) शब्द से हुई है। जिसका अर्थ "पृथ्वी का अध्ययन है।
Meaning of Geography:- The word 'Geography' is derived from the Hindi word 'Bhoo' Gol, which means earth and round respectively. Thus the literal meaning of Bhogol is 'round earth. This gives a sense of the spherical nature of the earth. (Geography). The English synonym of the word is Geography. The word is derived from the Greek words "ge" (ge-earth) and graphfo (description) meaning "the study of the earth".
भूगोल का परिभाषा:-भूगोल का विषय क्षेत्र व्यापक है, अतः इसे कुछ पंक्तियों में परिभाषित करना कठिन काम है। भोगोल का वास्तविक अर्थ भूगोलविदों द्वारा दी गई परिभाषाओ में निहित है,जो इस प्रकार से हैं।
1 - (A) मोंक हाउस:-भूगोल में पृथ्वी तल का अध्ययन मानवीय निवास के रूप में क्षेत्रीय भिन्नताओं के आधार पर किया जाता है।
2 - (B) हार्टशोर्न:- "भूगोल वह अनुशासन है जो पृथ्वी तल ओर एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान तक परिवर्तनशील स्वरूपों का वर्णन ओर उसकी व्याख्या मानव के 'संसार के रूप' में करता है"।
3-एकरमैन:-"भूगोल वह विज्ञान है जो पृथ्वी तल पर समस्त मावन जाती इर उसके प्राकृतिक वातावरण की पारस्परिक क्रियाशील विस्तृत प्रणाली का अध्ययन करता है"।
4-हैटलर:-"भूगोल क्षत्रीय विज्ञान है, जिसमें पृथ्वी तल के क्षत्रों का अध्ययन उसकी भिन्नताओं तथा स्थानिक सम्बन्धों की पृष्ठभूमि में किया जाता है" निष्कर्ष
उपरोक्त परिभाषाओ से स्पष्ठ होता है,की भूगोल पृथ्वी तल पर निवास करने वाले व्यक्तियों का विज्ञान है। यह पृथ्वी की मानव का निवासगृह मानकर व्याख्या प्रस्तुत करने वाला शास्त्र है।
टॉलेमी के शब्दों में--"भूगोल वह आभामय विज्ञान है जो स्वर्ग में पृथ्वी का प्रतिविम्ब देखता है"।
यह पृथ्वी एवमं मानव के अध्ययन से सम्बंधित शास्त्र है। वास्तव में भूगोल परिवर्तनशील प्रकृति स्वरूपों की व्याख्या 'मावन के घर' के रूप में प्रस्तुत करने वाला विज्ञान है।
Definition of Geography: - The subject area of geography is wide, so it is difficult to define it in a few lines. The real meaning of geography .lies in the definitions given by geographers, which are as follows.
1 - (A) Monk House:- The study of the earth plane in geography is done on the basis of regional variations in the form of human habitation.
2 - (B) Hartshorne: - "Geography is that discipline which describes and interprets the forms of change from one place to another on the earth plane and in the 'world form' of man".
3-Ackerman:-"Geography is the science that studies the detailed system of interaction of all human species on the earth's surface and its natural environment".
4-Haitler: - "Geography is a Kshatriya science, in which the regions of the Earth's surface are studied in the background of its differences and spatial relationships"
conclusion
It is clear from the above definitions that geography is the science of the people living on the earth plane. This is a scripture presenting the interpretation of the earth as the abode of human beings.
In the words of Ptolemy - "Geography is that astronomical science which sees the image of the earth in heaven".
It is a science related to the study of earth and human beings. In fact, geography is the science presenting the interpretation of changing nature forms as 'home of man'.
भूगोल की विषय वस्तु व अध्ययन - क्षेत्र:-
भोगोल की विषयवस्तु तथा अध्ययन-,क्षेत्र अर्थ उस समग्र सामिग्री से है जिसका अध्ययन हम भोगोल में करते हैं। भूतल पर भौतिक और सांस्कृतिक दो प्रकार के उद्देश्य देखने को मिलते हैं, जिनका अध्ययन हम भौतिक भूगोल व मानव भूगोल के रूप में अध्ययन करते हैं । वास्तव में भूगोल का अध्ययनक्षेत्र भूतल का वह कटिबन्ध है जहाँ स्थलमंडल, जकमण्डल और वायुमण्डल आपस में सम्बद्ध होते हैं और जहां जैवमण्डल का विस्तार पाया जाता है। इस प्रकार भूगोल की विषयवस्तु में निम्नलिखित को सम्मिलित किया गया है।
Subject matter and study area of Geography:-
The subject and study area of Bhogol refers to the whole material that we study in geography. There are two types of objectives, physical and cultural, which we study in the form of physical geography and human geography. In fact, the study area of geography is that zone of the surface where the lithosphere, the hydrogeosphere and the atmosphere are intertwined and where the expansion of the biosphere is found. Thus the following have been included in the subject matter of geography.
1-स्थलमंडल:-स्थलमंडल के अंतर्गत महाद्वीपों, द्वीपों, पर्वतों, पठारों, मैदानों, घाटियों, आदि स्थलाकृतियों की उत्तपत्ति और वितरण का अध्ययन किया जाता है।इसके अतिरिक्त पृथ्वी की आंतरिक संरचना, ज्वालामुखी, चट्टानों, मिट्टियों, भूमिगत जल-भण्डारों, एवमं खनिज भंडारों का अध्ययन भी इसकी विषय वस्तु है।
1-Lithosphere: - Under the lithosphere, the origin and distribution of topography is studied, including continents, islands, mountains, plateaus, plains, valleys, etc. Apart from this, the internal structure of the earth, volcanoes, rocks, soils, underground water-stores, And the study of mineral deposits is also its subject matter.
2- वायुमंडल:-वायुमंडल की निचली परत को क्षोभमंडल कहते हैं। इस परत में मौसम एवं जलवायु तत्वों के सहयोग से होने वाले विभिन्न मौसम सम्बधी और जलवायवीय परिवर्तन होते हैं।जिनका भूतल की भौतिक दशाओं और जीवन (पेड़-पौधे, जीव-जंतु,और मानव) पर गहरा प्रभाव पड़ता है। इसी परत में जलवायवीय घटनाएं- ( वर्षा,कोहरा,पाला,धुन्ध, तुसार,ओला आदि) सम्पन्न होतीं हैं। यह मण्डल भोगोल का प्रमुख अध्ययनक्षेत्र क्षेत्र है।
2- Atmosphere: The lower layer of the atmosphere is called the troposphere. In this layer, various meteorological and climatic changes occur in association with the weather and climatic elements. Which have a profound effect on the physical conditions and life (trees, animals, and humans) of the surface. In this layer, the climatic events - (rain, fog, frost, haze, tusar, hail etc.) take place. This is the main study area of Mandal geography.
3- जलमंडल:- जलमंडल के अध्ययनक्षेत्र के अंतर्गत महासागरीय तल का अध्ययन, जल का परिसंचरण , ताप, लवणता, निक्षेप तथा जल संसाधनों का अध्ययन भोगोल की विषयवस्तु के अंतर्गत आता है।
3- Hydrosphere: - The study of ocean floor, water circulation, temperature, salinity, deposits and water resources under the study area of the hydrosphere comes under the subject of geography.
4-पृथ्वी की सूर्य से सापेक्ष स्थिति:- इसमें पृथ्वी के आकार ,क्षरीय झुकाव, परिक्रमण, परिभ्रमण,दिन-रात की अवधि,ऋतु परिवर्तन, सूर्य ताप आदि का अध्ययन किया जाता है।
5- भूतल के सांस्कृतिक तत्वों का अध्ययन:-मानवीय बस्तियों,जनसंख्या वितरण, परिवहन मार्ग,संचार साधनों,उद्योग, व्यापार आदि के अध्ययन भी भूगोल की विषयवस्तु के अंतर्गत आते हैं।
इस प्रकार भोगोल के अंतर्गत पृथ्वी के भौतिक एवं सांस्कृतिक पहलुओं का अध्ययन किया जाता है।इसमें पृथ्वी के धरातल का स्वरूप भौतिक संरचना, जलवायु,प्राकृतिक वनस्पति, मिट्टी कृषि उत्पादन, खनिज,जनसंख्या, राजनीतिक विभाजन, उद्योग, परिवहन,व्यापार आदि के अध्ययन अम्मिलित होते हैं।
5- Study of the cultural elements of the surface: - The study of human settlements, population distribution, transport routes, means of communication, industry, trade etc. also comes under the subject of geography.
In this way, the physical and cultural aspects of the earth are studied under geography. In this, the nature of the earth's surface, physical structure, climate, natural vegetation, soil, agricultural production, minerals, population, political division, industry, transport, trade etc. are merged.
कार्ल रिटर ने लिखा है - "भूगोल में भूमण्डल के सभी लक्षणों, घटनाओ और उनके सम्बन्धों का पृथ्वी को स्वतंत्र मानते हुए अध्ययन किया जाता है।इसकी समग्र एकता में सम्बन्ध दिखाई पड़े।
Karl Ritter has written - "In geography, all the features, phenomena and their relations of the earth are studied considering the earth as independent. Relationships are visible in its total unity.
अतः भोगोल का अध्ययन क्षेत्र पर्यावरण और मानव के अंतःसम्बन्धों के अध्ययन से सम्बंधित है। भूगोल की विषयवस्तु में समस्त क्षेत्रीय भिन्नताओं, विवरणों,पारिस्थितिकी तथा स्थानिक अन्तःसम्बन्धों के द्वारा उन्नपन्न भौगोलिक वातावरण के जटिल स्वरूपों का अध्ययन होता है। इसका अध्ययन क्षेत्र पृथ्वी की आंतरिक संरचना से लेकर भूतल जलमंडल और वायुमंडल तक विस्तरित है।
Therefore, the study area of geography is related to the study of the interrelationships of environment and human beings. The subject matter of geography is the study of the complex forms of the geographical environment created by all the regional variations, descriptions, ecological and spatial interrelationships. Its study area extends from the internal structure of the Earth to the surface hydrosphere and atmosphere.
